Accomplishing the end
Reaching the end of the book, the need to finish it becomes all-consuming.
If it is late at night, that means I am reading and reading until I am done. Blearily and doggedly finishing in the early hours of the morning.
The next morning invariably this will be true:
I would have accomplished my goal.
I would barely remember those last few chapters.
In this is a lesson I refuse to learn: Enjoy what is happening, get back to it later, and first — rest.
