The Faustian legend is one many times retold. In every version Faust sold his soul to the devil for some version of sex, drugs, or rock and roll.

It was Goethe that wrote the definitive version. In his version Faust instead sold his soul for this:

All, of human experience.

We never know what we get ourselves into before we are in too deep. Every time, I wade in regardless.
