Blind tastings

Blind tastings of two things are more accurate with three choices: Choice one and choice two are the same choice, and choice three is different.

This way the tasting is a two-step process. First, you have to make a correct distinction: This is the odd choice out and these are the same choices.

Then only can you compare. Judgments must go through these steps: First distinctions, then comparisons.
