Cliché
"Cliché" now means something overused and therefore unoriginal, boring and worth skipping.
In the printing press days, clichés were the common phrases cast together in a solid block to speed up the layout on a page. This made those phrases more overused as people wanted to save more time.
But some clichés exist because first, it is true, it is useful, and it bears repeating:
Actions speak louder than words.
Happiness comes from within.
Follow your bliss.
Sometimes, the clichés are worth internalising.
