Coping strategies hold everything up
Our coping strategies have developed over the years to serve a purpose. Every coping strategy served a need at the time it was developed.
Then, new coping strategies get built on old ones all the way up to a set of strategies that work for us. This results in strategies on top of coping strategies.
That fundamental strategy props up a lot of ourselves. It holds our beliefs and values, propping up who we are.
When we change the fundamental strategy, we have to check that what was built on top of it won't crumble.
