The kindness of being specific

A hero on a pedestal, that is what I did with him. Thinking of him in generalisations of "oh he's awesome". When I realised he was just a man he fell hard in my estimation.

I was unkind by putting him on that pedestal. Sometimes a kindness we can do for people is to take them off those pedestals.

This is the kindness that makes that possible: Actively notice what it is that people do for you. Notice what you appreciate about them.

Then share that. This specificity is kinder.
