The rain dancers only danced in the rainy season. In the middle ages “add this to this and say 20 hail Marys” was the best way to communicate a timer.

What may look like backward behaviours, are just well-developed strategies.

Not the best strategy, always. Just well-developed.

This is our genius: We always develop strategies to meet our needs.
This is our downfall: We refuse to give up on well-developed strategies when better ones come along.
This is our tragedy: We rarely know our true needs.
